For this weeks Homework I have decided to to take on the recasting task. However for this task I thought instead of using a superhero film that already uses some amazing actors I would recast The Incredibles and make it Live-action. So for this the main characters I will be basing this around are Mr Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash, Violet, Frozone and from Incredibles one (as the documentary also talked about Super villains) Incrediboy also better known as Syndrone.

So the first character to recast would be the iconic superhero Mr Incredible. Mr Incredibles superpower is that he is very strong so my automatic choice while casting an actor would be someone who has a similar build and experience in a sport such as wresting. So my very obvious and in some ways a quite typical choice would be Dwayne Johnston as he was actually a former professional wrestler and football player before coming to acting. However, as an alternative choice I would say that seeing someone like Jason Momoa playing Mr Incredible would be very funny.

The next character is Elastigirl. Elastigirls superpower is that she is able to stretch, deform, expand and basically contract her body into any form imaginable. She is also however seen as quite short compared to Mr Incredible. For this wrole I have actaully been struggeling a bit because there are actually quite a few possible choices. One choice I thought of as she is in a film that I actually always find fun to watch and have watched very recently again is The Other Women and in this film one of the main actresses is Leslie Mann. I love how funny her character is in that film and how loving but how she also has a very strong side to her. However, the person I could really picture being Elastigirl is Scarlett Johansson. I have watched a lot of her films but the most recent film I have watched her in is Jo Jo Rabbit I really love how she takes on that wrole of being a very protective mother for her son in a very scary time and trying to keep the relationship as normal as possible no matter how scared she really was always trying to make him smile. She is obviously also very well known for being the Black Widow in the Marvel universe where she is a very kick-ass stronge women – just as she is in the real world too.

Next up is Violet. Straight away I know who I think would be perfect to play this character and that in Zendaya. The main reason I picked Zendaya is from her role in Spiderman Homecoming, Euphoria, The greatest showman and even throwing it back to a tv show I used to be obsessed with Shake it up. In each of these roles she plays a girl quite quiet but also when they come out of their shell its clear that they are one of kind and to me that is exactly like Violet as her character is someone that wants to hide away but at the same time wants to be doing something to help her parents and wants to be seen by her crush.

Next is the character Dash. The person I have chosen to play this character is Aidan Gallagher. I have only seen him in the Netflix series Umbrella Academy in which he plays a superhero type figure who’s ability is Space-time manipulation.

The last superhero is Frozone. One person that I think would be great to play Frozone is Kevin Hart. I love how well him and The Rock work together in Jumanji and I think their friendship is very much like Mr Incredibles and Frozone’s is in the films, however, obviously because they are both in Jumanji together I haven’t chosen him. I have chosen Will Smith as I think his funny personality is perfect for the wrole of Frozone.

Lastly is the role of the super villain Incrediboy. I think that the perfect person to play this character would have to be Jack Black.

My First draft of ‘Vulnerable’

I did this first draft of the script in about two days. I watched a lot of short films also some clips from some of my favourite tv shows and films in between writing which are shown on a seperate blog post. While writing scripts I often find listening to some songs can really get you in the mood to write. I found that the majority of songs I was listening to were songs that really related to how I wanted Sophie to be feeling. Here are some songs that heavily influenced Sophies character when she is feeling lost and vulnerable:

• Lose you to love me – Selena Gomez
• Touch – Sleeping at last
• Everything I wanted – Billie Eillish
• Hold me while you wait – Lewis Capaldi
• Soft Dark Nothing – Lily Kershaw

These songs (especially Lose you to love me) really created a sense of constantly feeling ‘vulnerable’ inside me just by listening to them so it was a really good way for me to channel that into Sophies character.

The main songs I listened to while writing the ending scene ‘moving on’ were:

With these songs I just found that the use of the uplifting guitar music really created the sense of what Sophie was feeling. Basically she is just ‘Ready for the next chapter’ at the end.

Sophie begins to realise the person she had fallen for so long ago is no longer him and she begins her journey to moving on and leaving him behind.

I watch a lot of different tv shows that are all completly different for example HBO’s ‘Game of thrones’ too Netflix’s ‘The Good PLace’ or Gilmore Girls. For me all the things I happen to watch the majority involve some kind of Romance. I find that Films and Tv shows that dont invole some king of relationship can be somewhat boring. As a possible writer and/or Directer in the future I know that I want to be able to create things with a lot of meaning and feeling.

The evening after getting the breifs for our FMP I started writing down possible ideas for the short films and writing down things that inspire me that could be incoripirated into my short film.

Inspiration research

My favourite Tv show that is still being made is a show called Outlander which is adapted from the best selling books by Diana Gabaldon. The Show is about a British army nurse in World war II called Claire Randall. After the War Claire and her Husband Frank Randall travel up to Scotland to enjoy their second honeymoon. Suddenly, Claire is transported to 1743 (close to the Jackobites uprising and therefore The Battle of Culoden) where she meets Jamie Fraser. For me I think that Outlander is a very underated show with an amazing cast, amazing soundtracks and each episode is really well directed, however, th main thing in from the show that inspired my idea for the FMP was by the great use of naration it uses throughout the show.

Something else that has been a been a huge inspiration on the Character Sophie is the song Lose you to love me by Selena Gomez. While watching her video for it gave me so many ideas of basically how I want Briony who is going ot be playing her to act. The short film is called vulnerable so I want her to for the majority of the video be constantly looking over her shoulder not being able to trust anyone anymore until she is home.
